My experience so far at bootcamp

My experience so far at boot camp has been so thrilling, eventful and packed with lots of opportunities to learn new skills.

Of course, there are challenges I had to overcome to enable me continue with the program. Predominant among these is my laptop failing severally and the lack of electricity and having to learn new skills and concept in such as short period of time challenged my ability to remain committed to my objectives. The lack of power supply and my laptop failing make me feels like I was not going to meet up and achieve something. But challenges are met to be overcome! So I have to seek for solution to these challenges. With some effort I was able to get stabilized to continue to deliver output though not to the level I would have wanted to achieve.

My system failing to respond properly was the most challenging part of my experience. While trying to get work done on the day’s challenge, laptop begins slowing down which was not at first obvious to me. Trying to run tests cases becomes so time consuming that I felt I was losing it and felt frustration that enveloped my ability to deliver output. I tried and tried, all my effort proved futile and only resulted in a recursion of trial and error.

I had to get home and hope that there will be electricity to continue working. I waited all through the night. Behold no power supply. Ok! What should should I do? “on the way to Andela boot camp facility” I said to my self and it was implemented swiftly. Getting there I had to seek permission to use the facility which was granted. But I was not able to do anything because the system was failing to response properly.

The recur of restarting and restarting my laptop just for it to response properly sap my mental ability and leave me feeling frustrated. The day almost over, I had to pack up and go home to seek for seek alternative solution. I was able to find a place nearby to plug my PC in and work to achieve some output. By then it is already late, but I was still able to deliver an output. And hope to continue working the next day.

In spite of the challenging I am still able to produce some output though not to the measure I would have loved to deliver. Bootcamp have afforded me the opportunity to learned new skills that will help while I continue progressing in software development. Important among these are how to do unit testing and why they are important while developing software product. And how to use git for versioning software product. Before now, I never felt the need to use git in software development, but now I know why it is important in helping save work and reducing the size of file a develop have to keep locally. and would want to continue using it where developing software products. Right now I can use the basic git commands without any hassle. Bootcamp is an eye opener to me on many aspect of software development including how to collaboratively build software product. Skills I will want to incorporate in my ongoing software development career.
