How my Values Aligns with Andela’s
Andela is a community of excellent, passionate people with integrity. People who through collaboration are presently transforming the Africa technology landscape. I so much love to be a member of this community primarily because, the core values of Andela (Excellence + Passion + Integrity + Collaboration = EPIC) are values I hold dear. I would like to use a few moment to highlight how my personal and professional values aligns with Andela’s
Excellence: excellence involves giving your best in whatever you do. You want to be the best version of yourself. Andela requires excellence from their Fellows because they know that the world would become a better place if there are people committed to giving their best regardless of their circumstances. Personally, I love giving my very best in whatever I do . I never really find myself settling for the status quo. I like to go the much I could.
Passion: it is the burning desire for want to get or achieve something in life. The more passion you have for achieving something, the greater you desire for it, the more commitment and dedication you put to it. That is while Andela values people who are passionate about technology (programming). It is true that being a programmer or world class technology leader is not easy. Passion for technology is what will get you going. After my enchanter with web development/ programming my passion for become a good develop had only increase. I want to be world class! That is why I chose Andela. I believe that with Andela my desire for becoming a world class will be realized.
Integrity: integrity define who you are, and it reflects on how people view you. In the long run people without integrity lack respect and trust from others. I do not like to perceived as a bad person. I would not also want to give up on my cherished values just to please people. So, when my desire to be accepted by others bridge the values I hold dear, I strive to pursue the course of integrity. The world needs people with integrity. That is what Andela stand for. That is what I also stand for. I always try to hold on to values that can impart positively on those around me and the world at large.
Collaboration: it is a common saying — ‘no man is an island’. I believe in the power of you and I. We can achieve much together. Collaboration involves people working together to achieve common goals. I look around the world with the numerous great inventions are not the accomplishment of one man. They are the collective work of people who collaborate to achieve what the desire to achieve. I know that to be a world class developer, I can not run the race alone. Having others to collaborate with will help us to achieve my goal.
Conclusively, to be a great person in life, you must hold on to values that define who you are and who you want to be. The EPIC values of Andela are values that can help anyone to succeed in whatever goal who want to achieve. If you are not defined by these values, I would strongly suggest you that a second look at yourself and your desire in life. You will definitely see why you need to imbibe these values in you life.
